The physical foundation of the system
BodyLoop
BodyLoop is a professional 3D body scanner from VITRONIC. It captures the body from all sides in a single scan and creates the raw 3D data that powers the Scannery system.
The scan is contact-free and takes approximately 0.3 seconds. This very short capture time helps reduce movement during scanning and supports consistent measurement results.
BodyLoop can capture highly detailed 3D data and, depending on the configuration, textured colour information. The scanner works without radiation and stores the scan data locally.
The system calibrates automatically before each scan in order to always capture precisely.
BodyLoop Zero is the basic software layer supplied with the scanner. It processes the raw scanner data into a high-resolution 3D body model with millimetre-level accuracy.
How it fits into the Scannery system
BodyLoop captures the body. BodyLoop Zero processes the raw scan data. ScanneryOne then uses this data for body measurements, size recommendations, reports and other activated modules for all textile and apparel applications.

What are the technical specifications of BodyLoop?
BodyLoop measures 1.65 m wide, 1.18 m deep and 2.35 m high. It consists of 16 elements of about 10 kg each and can be assembled in one hour. 32 RGB cameras capture high-resolution images from every angle and the system performs automatic calibration before each scan. The
scanner totally weighs 150 kg, is floor-mounted and uses aluminium, ABS, PC-ABS and PMMA housing materials. The scan volume is approximately 0.65 m wide, 1.2 m deep and 2.1 m high. A scan is ultrafast and takes 0.3 seconds. Average maximum circumferential error is up to plus or minus 1.5 percent, with resolution of 25 scan points per square centimetre for closed textured mesh data. BodyLoop operates with 100 to 240 V AC, consumes 345 W during operation and 152 W in standby. Interfaces include Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 and DisplayPort.
Operating temperature is +10 to +40 degrees Celsius, storage temperature is minus 10 to plus 65 degrees Celsius, relative humidity is 10 to 90 percent non-condensing, and the protection rating is IP40.
How can BodyLoop be used in different operating environments?
BodyLoop is suitable for permanent installations as well as mobile and temporary use. It can be installed in a fitting room, retail or production environment, or used for scan events, uniform projects and on-site outfitting. The scanner is open on all sides, so strong sunlight can influence the cameras and automatic calibration. Therefore the room should have controllable light. So the scanner should enclosewalls, curtains or a suitable cabin structure. It can also be easily integrated into a changing booth. The time to assemble the scanner by one person is one hour So it can move easily between different locations by transport in a vehicle with size
of a van.
Which technical systems and software can be connected to BodyLoop?
BodyLoop provides 3D scan data through its technical interfaces. This data can be processed by ScanneryOne or VITRONIC BodyLoop Pro. ScanneryOne connects to other systems through customer-specific formats or APIs. Depending on the workflow, also integrations with CRM, ERP
systems such as SAP, ordering, production, design or data management systems are possible. The user interface and data formates are configurable according to the customer's systems, security requirements and operational processes.
The software for garments
ScanneryOne
One interface for textile and garment workflows
ScanneryOne is the central software layer for textile, clothing and footwear applications. It uses the 3D model generated by BodyLoop and provides its own user interface, process logic and measurement engine.
The operator controls the complete scan process through ScanneryOne. It creates body measurements based on relevant ISO definitions or customer-specific measurement rules.
The software supports individual scans as well as high-throughput workflows for large groups.
Completed scans remain available for future processing. If your requirements change anytime, you can add new measurement profiles, garments, size tables or applications. The stored scans can then be analysed again without scanning the person a second time. This allows you to generate new measurements, update size recommendations or evaluate additional garments using the original 3D data.
Results can be displayed, organised, exported and transferred to connected processes.
Optional modules are
- SizeChecker for size recommendations,
- ScanTailor for made-to-measure production and
- SizeSurvey for population-based size analysis

ScanneryOne measurement engine
From 3D model to measurements
A three-dimensional body model alone does not yet provide the information required for clothing or production. ScanneryOne applies defined measurement rules to the 3D model and computes the measurements needed for the specific application. Measurement profiles are based on global ISO standards like eg. 8559-1 or on individual customer definitions.
Each profile determines:
- which measurements are calculated
- where each measurement begins and ends
- how circumferences and distances are positioned
- which body or foot areas are relevant
- how the results are named and exported
Only the measurements required for the customer’s process are computed and displayed.
Privacy by design: During this processing step, all facial information is anonymised. The resulting scan and digital body model cannot be used to identify the person.
ScanneryOne computes automated Body Measurements
Body Measurement Engine
ScanneryOne computes body measurements from the processed three-dimensional body model.
It includes a standard profile from top to feet with more than 40 measurements based on ISO 8559-1.
If you need any additional measurements, we can add them, no matter if one, ten or 100. Customer-specific measurement definitions can be created easily and quickly. So the system fully matches your requirements.
Different profiles can be created for different garments, customers, projects or countries.
The calculated results are displayed directly, exported in reports or transferred to optional modules and external systems.
Info: If you need to take manual measurements by placing markers yourself, for example for anthropometric research, we recommend BodyLoop Pro. It provides an extensive range of tools for interactive measurements. See the final chapter of this website for more information.
Body Model encrypted in QR Code
ScanneryOne first converts the 3D model into a set of body parameters then encryptes the binary code and finally stores it as a QR-Code. The result is a simple QR-Code that represents the 3D shape of the scanned person.
ScanneryOne fully reconstructs the model back from the QR code. The code is generated in a proprietary format and can only be interpreted by ScanneryOne.
This allows the scan data to be stored completely offline. No personal data or digital database is required. The QR code can be printed or stored by the individual, who remains in control of their own data.
This approach supports strict data protection requirements and can make it much easier to obtain approval from works councils and employee representatives. It enables organisations to use 3D body data without creating a complex personal database.
Select the workflow that fits your project
-
1-by-1 Workflow
The 1-by-1 Workflow is designed for the complete processing of one person.
The scan, measurement calculation, report generation and optional size recommendations are completed in one guided process on site or remotely.
Depending on the selected measurements and outputs, the complete workflow takes approximately four minutes.
This workflow is suitable when results are needed immediately after each scan.
-
Bulk Capture Workflow
Bulk Capture is designed for scan sessions in which many persons need to be scanned within a short period of time.
During the session, the operator concentrates only on image capture while processing is handeld in the background for later use.
The fastest interval is 12 seconds per person or 300 persons per hour. In military terms: a division in a day, a batallion in a week.
The actual throughput depends mainly on the organisation of the scanning and the preparation of the participants.
-
Bulk Processing
Bulk Processing follows after Bulk Capture. Here, measurement profiles, reports and optional modules are applied to a large numbers of generated scans.
Processing can take place directly after capture or at a later time.
Finished scan sessions can be processed again when new measurement profiles, updated garment data or size tables become available later.
Work offline or online
-
Offline operation
Here, ScanneryOne can be operated entirely on the local PC.
All scan data, measurements and results remain solely within the customer’s local environment.
Offline operation is particularly suitable for:
- security-sensitive organisations
- defence and public-sector environments
- locations without a reliable internet connection
- customers with strict requirements for data sovereignty
- processes that must remain completely local and confidential
-

- integration with e-commerce applications
- automated transfer to external systems
- central updates and administration
ScanneryOne FAQ
What is ScanneryOne and how does it work with BodyLoop?
ScanneryOne is the central software layer or textile, clothing and footwear applications. It uses the 3D model generated by BodyLoop and provides the user interface, workflow logic and measurement engine. The operator controls the scan process, applies measurement profiles,
generates reports and uses optional modules from one central access point.
BodyLoop captures the body and processes the raw data into a high-resolution model. ScanneryOne turns that model into application-specific measurements and results.
What can the operator control from ScanneryOne?
The operator can start and manage the BodyLoop, guide the person through positioning and preparation, capture the scan, apply ISO-based or customer-specific measurement profiles, generate body measurements and reports, and export or transfer the results. Depending on the
configuration, the service can also be controlled remotely from anywhere in the world through a browser. ScanneryOne therefore provides one interface for the complete workflow instead of requiring separate software steps. Also users can configure new workflows in ScanneryOne.
Which workflows are available and how long do they take?
The 1-by-1
workflow processes one person from scan through measurements, reports and optional size recommendations. It normally takes approximately four minutes, depending on the selected profile and outputs. Bulk Capture is designed for large groups. The operator concentrates on image capture while processing runs in the background. The fastest interval is approximately 12 seconds per person, or about 300 people per hour, depending on organisation and preparation. Bulk Processing applies profiles, reports and modules to many stored scans after capture and can also be run later.
Which body and foot measurements can ScanneryOne calculate?
ScanneryOne can calculate the measurements required for the customer's application from the processed three-dimensional model. Body profiles can include more than 40 measurements based on ISO 8559-1, as well as additional distances, circumferences and customer-specific definitions. Foot profiles can include foot length, forefoot width, heel width, selected circumferences, arch-related dimensions and left-right differences.
The exact profile is configured for the garments, footwear or production process.
Which measurement standards and custom definitions are supported?
Measurement profiles can be based on relevant ISO standards, including ISO 8559-1, or on individual customer definitions. Each profile defines which measurements are calculated, where they start and end, how circumferences and distances are positioned, which body or
foot areas are relevant, and how results are named and exported. Multiple profiles can be stored for different garments, projects, customers or countries. During this processing step, facial information is anonymised automatically.
So it is impossible to identify the person from the resulting scan and digital body model.
Can existing scans be processed again later?
Yes. Completed scans remain available for later processing. If requirements change, new measurement profiles, new garments, new size tables or applications can be added and applied to the stored scans without scanning the person again. This makes it possible to generate new
measurements, update size recommendations, or evaluate additional garments using the same original 3D data.
What results can be exported and integrated into other systems?
ScanneryOne can display and organise measurements, reports, size recommendations and other application-specific results. Standard exports include PDF and CSV. Customer-specific formats and interfaces can also be developed, for example for CRM, ERP, ordering, production, design or data management systems.
An API is available, and custom add-ons can be created for new or customised workflows.
Can the system be operated offline and online?
ScanneryOne can run offline or online. For offline operation it runs entirely on a local PC. In that mode, scan data, measurements and results remain in the customer's local environment, which is suitable for security-sensitive, defence, public-sector and data-sovereignty requirements. The online configuration provides central data management, authorised remote access, supports several scanning locations, web-based processes, e-commerce integration, automated transfers and central administration.
The customer selects the operating model according to security and process requirements.
Which modules are available and how are they added?
ScanneryOne provides the scan workflow and the required body or foot measurements as its foundation. Optional modules use these measurements for downstream applications:
- SizeChecker supports size recommendations
- ScanTailor supports automated made-to-measure production, and
- SizeSurvey supports population-based size analysis.
- Customers activate modules according to the customer's process. Additional customer-specific add-ons and integrations
can also be developed.
How are configuration, data protection, training and commercial models handled?
The customer's measurement profile, garment data, size tables, material properties and workflow requirements are configured before productive use and validated with representative data and test persons.
Facial information is anonymised during the measurement processing. Depending on the project, the system can be operated locally or online, and training is provided for the agreed operator workflow. ScanneryOne is available as a configurable software solution with optional modules and project or service work added according to the customer's requirements.
Customise ScanneryOne with additional modules
ScanneryOne initially provides the scan workflow and the required body or foot measurements. Optional modules use these measurements for specific downstream applications. Customers only activate the functions that are relevant to their process.
Module 1: SizeChecker
Digital size recommendations based on body and garment data
SizeChecker compares the body measurements generated by ScanneryOne with the dimensions and fit of one or more garments. The customer’s garment measurements, sizes, ease allowances and material stretch are configured before operational use during the Setup phase.
For each relevant garment measurement, the system determines an ideal body measurement and a predefined fit range. SizeChecker evaluates all relevant dimensions and recommends the size with the smallest overall difference from the ideal fit. Any number of garments and sizes is checked within a few seconds.
If no available size falls within the defined fit range, the system clearly identifies that no suitable standard size is available. This helps identify special sizes, individual alterations or made-to-measure requirements.
SizeChecker FAQ
What data does SizeChecker need and which measurements are considered?
SizeChecker normally uses garment measurements, available sizes, product information and the customer's fit requirements. It converts garment dimensions into corresponding body-measurement ranges and compares them with the body measurements from ScanneryOne. Existing body-based size tables can also be imported. Only measurements that influence the fit of the specific garment need to be included.
How are fit, allowances and material properties defined and validated?
Scannery and the customer define the ideal fit, acceptable deviation, ease allowance and material stretch for each relevant garment measurement. These values determine the ideal body measurement and the range that can still fit. The data is checked and validated with real garments and representative test persons before productive use. This ensures that the calculated recommendation reflects the way the garment is actually worn.
Can SizeChecker recommend several garments, and what happens if no size fits?
SizeChecker can evaluate any number of garments, sizes, product combinations or complete equipment sets within a few seconds. It compares all relevant measurements and recommends the size with the smallest overall difference from the defined ideal fit. If no size lies within the configured fit range, the result clearly states that no suitable standard size is available. This can indicate a special size, alteration or made-to-measure requirement.
Is a new scan required when garments or size tables are added or changed?
No. Existing scans can be analysed again after new garments, size tables, measurement profiles or applications are added. The original three-dimensional scan remains the basis for the new calculation. This allows customers to expand their product range or update their fitting rules without inviting the person for another scan.
Can SizeChecker connect to ordering and administration systems?
Yes. Size recommendations and related information can be exported or transferred through customer-specific formats, APIs and integrations. Depending on the workflow, results can be sent to ordering, administration, ERP, CRM or production systems. The required data structure and transfer method are defined during the project.
Module 2: ScanTailor
From body measurements to a personalised cutting file
ScanTailor is the module for automated made-to-measure production. It uses the body measurements generated by ScanneryOne to adapt a given pattern to the scanned person. The result is a production file that can be transferred to a digital cutter.
The input is the graded sizes of a garment as cutting file in DXF-format.
For productive use, the graded pattern, adaptation rules and production requirements must be configured. This initial configuration is a customer-specific project.
Once the setup has been validated, the process from body scan to personalised cutting data file is fully automated and does not need manual interaction.
This process is patented in the Europe Union and pending in other regions.
ScanTailor FAQ
What does ScanTailor do?
ScanTailor is the optional module for automated made-to-measure production. It uses body measurements generated by ScanneryOne to adapt a prepared garment pattern to the scanned person. The result is an individual cutting file that can be transferred to a digital cutter. After setup and validation, the process from scan to cutting data can run without manual pattern adjustment.
What does the customer need to provide?
The customer provides the graded garment sizes, normally as a cutting file in DXF format, together with the base pattern, adaptation rules and production requirements. The customer must also define the target product and the required output format. A product expert is needed to clarify how the pattern should change for different body measurements.
Why is a project required before the module can be used?
Every garment has its own pattern construction, grading logic and production constraints. These rules must be translated into a machine-readable configuration before ScanTailor can adapt the pattern reliably. The initial implementation therefore includes preparation, configuration, test runs and validation for the specific product. Once this project is complete, the configured workflow can be automated.
Does ScanTailor create new patterns from scratch?
No. ScanTailor starts with a customer-provided graded pattern and adapts it to the individual body measurements. It does not replace the customer's pattern-making process or invent a new garment design. The customer's existing construction and production rules remain the basis for the generated cutting file.
Which production formats are supported?
The standard input described on the page is a graded garment pattern in DXF format. The final production file is prepared for transfer to a digital cutter. Other formats or customer-specific structures can be evaluated during the implementation project and added where the target production system supports them.
Can ScanTailor be connected directly to a cutter?
Yes, a direct or automated connection can be developed when the cutter and production environment provide a suitable interface. The exact transfer method depends on the cutter, file format, network and security requirements. Where a direct connection is not possible, the generated cutting file can be exported for controlled manual transfer.
How is the result validated?
The configured pattern rules are tested with representative scans and, where possible, with physical garments made from the generated cutting files. The fit, pattern changes and production output are checked against the customer's requirements. The module is released for productive use only after the agreed validation criteria have been met.
Can additional garments be added later?
Yes. Additional garments can be implemented as separate configurations. Each new product requires its own graded pattern, adaptation rules and validation because construction and fit logic can differ. Existing scans can then be used to generate cutting data for the newly configured garment without scanning the person again.
Module 3: SizeSurvey
SizeSurvey is the module for analysing body data from larger groups of persons.
It combines anonymised measurements to show how body dimensions are distributed within a defined population. The analysis can reveal how well an existing size system covers the persons it is intended for.
It can also identify gaps between available sizes and the actual body shapes and dimensions of the target group. SizeSurvey supports decisions about standard, short, long and special sizes as well as product development, procurement and assortment planning.
Data can be segmented according to permitted criteria such as location, department, user group or other organisational categories. The results can be provided as measurement distributions, size-coverage analyses, tables, charts and project reports.
SizeSurvey is used for a single study or as an ongoing analysis process that is updated with additional scans over time.
SizeSurvey FAQ
What is the purpose of SizeSurvey?
SizeSurvey analyses body data from larger groups of people. It combines anonymised measurements to show how body dimensions are distributed within a defined population. The results help determine whether an existing size system covers the target group and where gaps or underserved body shapes exist.
How can SizeSurvey improve a size system?
The analysis can show whether standard, short, long or special sizes are needed and how many people each size covers. It supports decisions about product development, procurement and assortment planning. By basing decisions on measured population data rather than assumptions, organisations can reduce poor fit, unnecessary exchanges and uncovered body dimensions.
Which information can be included?
Data can be segmented according to permitted criteria such as location, department, user group or other organisational categories. Results can be provided as measurement distributions, size-coverage analyses, tables, charts and project reports. SizeSurvey can be used for one study or updated continuously with additional scans over time.
Are names and personal information required?
No. SizeSurvey is designed to work with anonymised measurement data. Names and other directly identifying information are not required for the statistical analysis. If a project needs grouping information, only the agreed categories and data fields are included, in line with the customer's privacy and data-governance requirements.
Optional: BodyLoop Pro
Advanced body analysis for sports, health and medical environments
BodyLoop Pro is designed for applications in sports, health, rehabilitation, medicine and longevity.
The software uses the three-dimensional body model to analyse body shape, posture, symmetry and physical development.
Depending on the configured application, measurements can include distances, circumferences, volumes, angles and deviations.
Interactive and marker-based workflows make it possible to define specific anatomical or application-related points on the body.
Repeated scans can be compared to visualise physical changes over time.
This makes BodyLoop Pro suitable for performance diagnostics, rehabilitation monitoring, biomechanical studies and other specialised body-analysis processes.
BodyLoop Pro and ScanneryOne use the same BodyLoop hardware but are designed for different application areas.
